Chapter Two

I glanced at the time. 130?! That can’t be right..."Jenna!" I called out to one of the other waitresses. She was the friendliest...one of the only ones who didn’t see my being there as a threat to their tip making. "Is that the time?!" I motioned to the clock on the wall.

"Uh...yah!" she said as she took out her cell phone and looked at the time. "It sure is! Exciting, hey? Just 1 more hour and we can get out of here!" She grinned at me and went on her way with a tray full of drinks.

That's not exactly the first thought that came into my mind. The night has gone by so fast! I can’t believe it’s practically over! I wasn’t ready to go home yet. I glanced back to the table the 4 guys were sitting at and noticed that there were only 3 of them there. It only took a millisecond to notice which one was missing and before I could glance around to see where he was I felt a rough hand grasp my wrist lightly. My skin tingled on contact which caused me to take a quick breath in. Call it intuition or instinct or whatever you want, but I knew it was him before I turned around. I looked up at him to find his eyes staring into mine and that's when I noticed that they had golden flecks in them and glistened slightly when the light hits them.

"There you are!" He said in his incredibly sexy French accent.

"Here I am!" I replied and instantly wished I had said something quirkier.

"I just wanted to get the bill."

"Oh! Yah! Of course."

Kris’s POV

I watched as she punched a bunch of buttons on the computer screen. Everything about her was different from every girl I had ever been even remotely interested in. She's absolutely beautiful, but it looks so effortless. She oozes confidence, but she's in no way conceited. When you look into her eyes you can tell there's more to her. Everything is just so intriguing. "Here yah go!" She said as she handed me the bill. I grinned at her and took it.

"So how long have you been here?" I asked as I filled out the Visa slip.

"I just started tonight."

"Tonight?!"

"Uh huh." She replied.

"Letang!" I glanced up and saw Jordan standing at the top of the stairs with his coat on. "Let’s go, dude!"

"You guys go get a cab. I’ll just be a minute." He smirked as he headed out of the club. "How often are you here?"

"Fridays and Saturdays." She said, pushing her bangs out of her face.

"Well...I’ll be back." I said as I handed her the bill and took her other hand in mine. I raised it to my lips and kissed it, never losing contact with her bright blue eyes. As my lips connected with her hand she bit her bottom lip causing my body temperature to rise about 10 degrees. GOD! She was so sexy! "It was nice meeting you, Chelsie."

"You too...?" Was she serious? I waited a second for her to laugh...but she didn't. She really doesn't know who I am? I felt a grin creep across my face as she stood there waiting for me to tell her my name.

"Kris." I told her.

"Kris." I liked the way she said that and was all of a sudden thinking of what it would be like hearing her moan my name. I tried to push that thought out of my mind as I stood there still not believing that she didn't know who I was. Everyone knew who I was. It was actually a little refreshing that she only knew me as Kris...not Kris Letang, #58.

"I’ll see you soon." I gave her a little wink as I took off. She would definitely be seeing more of me.

Chelsie’s POV

I climbed into bed next to Jason, who was already in an alcohol induced sleep. He drank a lot...I knew because the room reeked of stale booze. He had gone to Diesel tonight with Corey and Steve; two of his best friends but I hadn’t seen them at all. As I thought about the events of the night, I couldn't help but picture Kris’ face. I closed my eyes and I could see his perfectly. I could see his adorable crooked smile. I could see the incredibly sexy way he ran his hand through his hair. I suddenly climbed out of bed and quietly made my way downstairs. There was no way I was falling asleep anytime soon, and I didn't feel right laying in bed next to my soon to be husband while I was thinking about another man.

Jason and I have been together for 4 years. And I don't mean high school style dating, either. We’ve been living together for 3 of those years and since the minute we got together we’ve been beyond serious. We’ve been through some pretty tough times...well...i've been through some pretty tough times and he’s been there to save me. After my parents kicked me out when I was 17 I began drinking; more and more until I was drinking by myself, behind everyone’s back. I liked the way it numbed everything. The hurt, the loss, the anger...when I drank I didn't feel any of that. The down side to numbing those feelings was that all the feelings I wanted to feel were numbed as well, but I had gotten myself in too deep and I couldn't get out. That's where Jason came in. He’s the reason I'm where I'm at now. Without him...I don't know where I would be, and it just made me feel so guilty that I couldn't get Kris out of my head.

The more I thought about Kris, the more my thoughts drifted to Jason and then confusion set in further. I love my fiancĂ©! I love Jason...so why the hell couldn't I get Kris out of my head?! What’s wrong with me?! I just met the guy...for all I know he could be some crazy stalker that’s gonna dazzle me with his beautiful eyes and his ridiculously sexy hair just to chop me up into little pieces. I sighed, putting my head in my hands. My head hurt and all I had concluded is that, psycho stalker or not, Kris was absolutely dazzling me.

Chapter One

I left the office and shut the door behind me, locking it. I looked at my watch, Dammit! I thought. I won’t be able to make it home, work ran late and it's already 730. Good thing I packed a change of clothes just in case! I have my first shift at Diesel tonight and I'm supposed to be there at 8, but I'm actually really looking forward to that. I've always enjoyed night life...a little too much, really. Even though I am only 21, I have been to my fair share of night clubs, bars and parties. It was something I lived for, something that got me into a lot of trouble once upon a time. My phone rang, bringing me out of my daze and back to reality. "Hello?"

"Babe! Where are you?!"

"Oh, I had to stay a bit late. Paperwork. You know how it is."

"Kay, well get home! I got off early and thought we.."

"I start at Diesel tonight."

"Tonight?!"

"Yes! I told you this morning AND I left a little sticky on the fridge." He groaned, just now remembering. For a cop, he was pretty damn forgetful when he wanted to be.

"When are you done?"

"I dunno! The place closes at like 230 or something. So I’ll probably be home around 3."

"Maybe I’ll grab the boys and we’ll stop by for a drink."

"Oh hell no!" No way is he starting this! I'm not having him there every night that I'm working. "Jason!"

"What?! Am I not allowed to go to Diesel anymore?!"

"Not while I'm working, no."

"I wanna be there to keep the drunks off yah. Maybe i'll arrest a few." He laughed as I growled under my breath. "Please baby?!" I knew from the sound of his voice that he was making that ridiculously cute begging face that he does. I couldn't help but smile. "I’ll tip you good!"

"HA! It’s not profit when it comes out of your pocket and goes into mine!"

"Come on! I’ll be good."

"UGH! Fine."

"Great! I’ll see you later, then."

"HEY! One more thing...leave Officer Campbell at home, okay? Just be my Jason tonight. I don't need a scene on my first night." *************************************************************
"Chels! Chelsie!" I turned around to see Mike, my boss, coming towards me. He's pretty good looking for a 40-something. He's one of those guys that, no matter how old he gets, he’ll keep hitting on 20 year old women...but he’s not nasty about it. He hits on yah in a classy way...if that's possible.

"Yah, Mike! What’s up?"

"Holly had to leave. I want you to cover her section and Jenna will add your section to hers. You're up on the upper deck now."

"The upper deck?!" The upper deck is VIP! Kara told me that you had to work your way up to get up there and surely I was last in line!

"I know it’s your first night, and it’s VIP and such...but you got this. You’re awesome doll face. Now get up there!" I went up the stairs and looked around. There were 5 tables on the side I had. I made my way to the table of younger guys. There were 4 of them...I wonder who they know to get a table up here.

"How are we doing here tonight, guys?" The first of them had black hair and was wearing a stylish pair of glasses. Next to him was a blonde boy with piercing blue eyes and very defined features.

"Very well! and yourself?" I looked at him and the first thing I noticed was his smile and that he had the nicest set of lips I've ever seen on a guy.

"I cant complain!" My eyes stopped on the last of them and I was immediately caught by his warm, chocolate brown eyes. "Can I get you guys some drinks?" I asked glancing back to that boy and took him in further. God, he had gorgeous hair! It was kind of long...not too long, though. It was perfect. He had that ‘I just woke up’ shaggy look goin on that so many guys try so hard to get. Something about him told me that he didn't have to work to get it. He ran his hand through his hair and smirked a sideways grin at me. He totally just caught me checking him out.

"Why don't you sit your pretty little self down and let me get you a drink." He said as he pulled out a chair. His friends were stifling laughs, trying to be quiet and let him do his thing. Clearly this guy is a flirt. "You look like a Vodka girl...am I right?"

"Tequila, actually." I said, grinning back at him. I can play this game, too.

"Tequila?" He asked, his eyes never leaving mine. All I could do was nod. "Staalsy...what is it they say about girls who drink Tequila?"

"Tequila makes her clothes fall off." The blonde one answered.

"Well...Tequila does, in fact, make my clothes fall off." That got a reaction from all of them. The one with the glasses, who hasn’t spoken yet, was grinning stupidly. I could tell he was feelin the alcohol. The blonde boy he called Staalsy and the one with the gorgeous lips both had their mouths open. "But...not tonight Fabio! I don't drink on the job. So! can I get you boys another round?" They all stared at me for a second, and then the dark haired guy with the glasses finally spoke.

"Yes maam!"

"Excellent!" I said as I turned and began over to the bar. I could feel their eyes burning holes into my back.

Kris’ POV

I couldn't help but watch her as she walked away. She's one of those girls that when she's in a room you cant help but look at her. I watched as she called out her drinks to the bartender. He said something funny because she threw her head back laughing and then smacked him lightly. Clearly the dude had a thing for her...he was grinning to himself like he was the man after making her laugh. Can’t blame the guy though...she’s gorgeous! She glanced back over to the table and as if she could hear my thoughts, her eyes fell right on me and I couldn't look away. "Tanger...Earth to Kris!" Crosby’s voice broke our staring contest.

"Boys...I think I'm in love!" They all laughed and I glanced back to her but she was back to talking to the bartender.

"Tell me again why we don't come here more often?" Staal asked, leaning back to get a look at her.

"I come here a lot! I have NEVER seen her before." Max answered.

"Yah well, I'm sure you don't remember much after drinkin as much as you do Mr. 3500 dollar tab."

"Oh, no! don't start with me Staal! I would have remembered her! And $3500?! I was buying drinks for 4 people that night, not just myself. Maybe if you thought of others once in a while and bought a.." their arguing was cut short as our drop dead gorgeous waitress returned with a tray of drinks.

"Two canadians." She said as she set the drinks in front of Sid and Jordan. "One whiskey sour." That one was for Max. "And last but not least, one rum and coke." She said as she set my drink down on one of those little square napkins. "I put a little extra love in that for yah, Fab." I grinned and looked down as the other guys cracked up laughing.

"I don't believe it! Are you blushing, Letang?! That's pretty tough to do. You should feel special!" I glared at Talbot letting him know that he would pay for that later. She laughed and I swear I could listen to that laugh all day. She put her hand on my shoulder lightly, causing me to look up at her.

"I’ll check on you guys in a little." She turned to leave.

"Sweetheart!" I spoke up. "What's your name?"

"Chelsie." Just as she spoke I heard her name called from the bar. "Duty calls!" She shrugged as she walked away.
